At MKDFIRE, we believe innovation comes from creating differentiated solutions that solve real customer problems. However, we also found that existing Pocket Door Systems P106 on the market are often expensive and complicated to install. Their complex structures increase installation time and overall project costs. To solve these challenges, our engineering team began developing a simpler, more efficient solution. Q: What were the biggest technical challenges during development, and how did your team overcome them? A: Developing a Pocket Door System is much more than designing a single hardware component. It requires perfect coordination between cabinet hinges, drawer slides, rollers, rebound devices, and the entire motion system. Our lead engineer, Mr. Zhu, shared three major challenges we faced. Challenge 1: Hinge Collision When adjusting the cabinet door gap to its minimum clearance, the hinges could collide with the cabinet frame. Our solution was to redesign the support arm angle of the roller assembly. By allowing the door to move with a slight negative angle during adjustment and closing, hinge interference was completely eliminated, resulting in smoother and more stable operation. Challenge 2: Steel Cable Derailment Another challenge was preventing the steel cable from coming off the pulley during repeated opening and closing. We improved this mechanism three times. Our first design had no pulley cover, allowing the cable to slip off easily. The second version introduced a pulley cover, which greatly reduced derailment but could not eliminate it entirely. After further engineering optimization, we developed our current third-generation structure. This design ensures that the steel cable remains securely in position regardless of how frequently the cabinet door is opened or closed. Challenge 3: Ball Stud Durability Originally, we used plastic ball studs. While functional, they showed wear after extended use. After testing multiple materials, we upgraded to stainless steel ball studs, dramatically improving wear resistance, durability, and the overall service life of the Pocket Door System.
